Economic Reform Team (ERT) Profile
The Economic Reforms Team (ERT) is a voluntary initiative from prominent Yemeni businessmen, businesswomen, and economic experts. The ERT aims to enable the private sector to uniformly and effectively contribute to decision-making and to develop visions, strategies, and policies that promote economic reforms and growth in Yemen. The ERT strives to include wide-ranging viewpoints informed by private sector stakeholders across the country.
The Team was established in 2012 following the Center for International Private Enterprise (CIPE) organized “Strengthening the Voice of the Private Sector” workshop at the Dead Sea in Amman. Key stakeholders for this meeting included the Studies & Economic Media Center (SEMC), the Yemeni Business Club (YBC), and the main chambers of commerce in Sana ‘a, Aden, Hudaydah, Taiz, and Hadramawt.
The ERT plays a critical role in formulating economic policies in Yemen by submitting many visions and proposals to those in managerial positions to boost economic reforms.

A thriving national economy that ensures a free and dignified life for all citizens.
ERT's Mission:
To work more roundly with the Yemeni business community to provide economic insights and solutions as partners in preparing and assessing Yemen's economic and development policies.
ERT's Objectives:
- Active contribution of the private sector to preparing and assessing of government economic policies in order to serve development and improve the living lives of citizens in Yemen.
- Enhancing consultation and partnership with the Government and its various agencies to establish and implement reliable and enforceable economic reforms.
- Strengthening partnerships, consultation and cooperation among Yemen's private sector actors.
- Strengthening partnerships between the business community, economists and civil society to develop and advocate for successful economic visions.
- Encouraging and supporting volunteerism and humanitarian action to serve the community.
